VIDEO: Immunization and Influenza Vaccine Recommendations

Drs Schaffner and Tapper discuss issues related to immunization as we head into the influenza season.

NEW ORLEANS — During IDWeek 2016, William Schaffner, MD, professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, sat down with Infectious Disease Advisor to discuss the influenza vaccine, particularly the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation to avoid the live attenuated intranasal vaccine for the 2016-2017 season due to efficacy concerns. 

In addition, Drs Schaffner and Tapper discussed a number of newer vaccines including the new adjuvanted vaccine for people age 65 and older.
