In this video, Anthony Fiore, MD, MPH, a medical epidemiologist for the Influenza Division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention discusses ways to avoid sepsis and treatment options.

According to a Vital Signs report issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, many patients that have sepsis had recently used health care services.  

Clinicians can prevent sepsis by adhering to infection control standards, Dr Fiore notes.
